The final of Riyadh P1 not only confirmed Tapia/Coello's dominance, but also showed an unusual side of Fede Chingotto , usually so lucid and consistent.
A high-pressure match, far from his usual standards
Known for its playing the game and its mental stability, the Argentinian drive never managed to find the right rhythm in the fast outdoor conditions , which favor the attacking style of the world's number one teams.
Trailing in the second set, Chingotto vented his frustration on the bench, addressing his coach Jorge Martínez:
"The threads got tangled in my head." , thus acknowledging an unusual loss of bearings in a match where pair 2 suffered.
An offensive role still in its early stages.
During the preseason, the staff had encouraged Chingotto to become more aggressive to bring in more winning points and relieve Galán in the aerial game.
A logical evolution, but one that did not work in Riyadh: by trying to hit more, the Argentinian stepped out of his natural range without finding the expected effectiveness.
Full support from Galán and the staff
Despite this difficult final, the team remained united.
Ale Galán and Jorge Martínez immediately supported by Chingotto recalling the work accomplished and the constant progress of the pair, firmly established as world number 2 .
A defeat that should be put into perspective
Padel always leaves room for revenge, and Chingotto has already proven his ability to bounce back.
This final appears above all as a reminder of the requirements of the very highest level where the slightest tactical adjustment must be perfectly mastered.
The season has only just begun, and Galán/Chingotto have already shown that they have the weapons to come back and challenge Tapia/Coello.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
