The achievement is immense. In their very first competition as a pair, Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo eliminated Bea González and Paula Josemaría (6-1, 6-4), six-time champions this season, to reach their first final on the circuit. Premier PadelAt just 20 and 18 years old, the two Spanish women confirm that they have everything to establish themselves permanently among the best players in the world.

It was the first real test for their fledgling association. And they passed it brilliantly. Facing  Bea González  et  Paula Josemaría , undoubtedly the most in-form pair at the moment with six titles won this season,  Claudia Fernández  et  Martina Calvo  delivered a match of exceptional quality to secure the victory  6 / 1 6 / 4 .

Of course, Bea and Paula weren't at their best. But to reduce this result to a mere underperformance by the favorites would be deeply unfair. The two young Spanish players were simply superior. In the right-hand diagonal,  Claudia Fernández  took the lead over Paula Josemaría thanks to impressive accuracy, very few mistakes and a constant ability to accelerate at the right time.

To the right,  Martina Calvo  confirmed that she is one of the greatest talents of her generation. Against Bea González, the 18-year-old imposed her rhythm, alternating power, variation, and personality in the crucial moments.

Rarely have Bea González and Paula Josemaría been so thoroughly dominated in both diagonals during the same match.

They did not waver when it came time to conclude

The only moment of tension occurred at  5-3  in the second set.

Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo each had two early opportunities to close out the match on Bea González's serve. The favorites held serve and got back to  5-4 suggesting that doubt could finally take hold.

It did not happen.

When it came time to serve for the match, Claudia Fernández played with impressive control. No sign of nervousness, no rushing: the two Spaniards finished the match with the calm of much more experienced players and secured their first final together.

An association that is already confirming its full potential

It only took one tournament.

When Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo decided to end their respective projects to team up, many saw them as a pair with a bright future. Few, however, imagined they would reach a final of Premier Padel from its very first appearance.

In hindsight, a question almost naturally arises:  What if they had played together earlier? 

Their decision to shake up the women's circuit now makes perfect sense. Their complementarity is already evident, and this semi-final confirms that they have what it takes to compete with the best pairs in the world.

"We had no expectations."

After the match, Claudia Fernández savored this first major achievement:

“We knew it would be a very difficult match. It’s our first tournament together and we hadn’t set any expectations. We are very happy to be playing in this first final and are already looking ahead to tomorrow.”

Martina Calvo displayed similar serenity, refusing to get carried away despite the performance:

"Our work doesn't stop here. We want to do even better. We're going to prepare for this final with our team."

These words perfectly illustrate the state of mind of the two Spanish women, who remained very clear-headed despite the importance of their achievement.

A strong message sent to the circuit

This victory doesn't yet make Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo the new queens of world padel. However, it does confirm one thing:  Their partnership has immense potential.  In their very first tournament together, the two Spanish players achieved what very few new pairs manage to accomplish: beating one of the circuit's top teams in a semi-final. Premier Padel.

Claudia brings her composure, her excellent game reading skills, and her consistency. Martina, despite being only 18, impresses with her personality, her power, and her ability to turn a match around. On Sunday, they will try to win their first title against the winners of the match between  Gemma Triay / Delfi Brea  et  Alejandra Salazar / Aranza Osoro .

Whatever happens, this first week together is already a success. And one thing now seems clear:  Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo are among the players to be reckoned with in the years to come.  Their shared history is only just beginning, but its first chapter is already particularly remarkable.
