The holiday season was anything but restful for  Claudia Fernández . At only  19 years However, the Madrid native is coming off the best season of her young career: a victory at  Barcelona Tour Finals , six titles in 2025 and a status of  youngest “maestra” in the history of women's padel Despite this, the separation with  Bea González  came to disrupt her winter.

A difficult break to swallow, especially coming after an exceptional end to the season. But just like in 2024, when  Gemma Triay  Having already ended their joint project, Claudia had to quickly look to the future.

Two options, one clear choice

Guest on the podcast Padel20 x 10 Onda Cero, the young player spoke candidly about this pivotal period. She had two options for launching her new project:

"I had the opportunity to play with  Martina Calvo  or with  Sofia Araújo But I saw that Sofía was very motivated to play with me. I think we can work well together, especially  without pressure  »

A well-considered choice, based as much on feelings as on the sporting project. With the Portuguese player, Claudia will form the  fourth in the world , very close in the ranking to duos like Ari Sánchez / Andrea Ustero.

Moving forward without setting goals

Despite their status, the Madrid native prefers to remain cautious and not project too far ahead:

"We haven't set any goals. We want to go  step by step "Learning to play together, understanding each other well. What will be, will be."

A mature speech, reflecting a player who refuses to be swayed by external expectations.

"Bea's decision didn't thrill me, but I respect it."

Claudia does not hide her disappointment regarding Bea González's decision to join  Paula Josemaría But she rejects all bitterness:

"Unfair, no. If she thought it was a good opportunity for her, I understand. I would have continued, of course, but it's a professional decision. It's work."

And he added, with impressive lucidity for his age:

"I've been left before, I'll be left again... and one day, I'll be the one to leave. It's part of the game."

A player who thrives, both on and off the track

Although his talent exploded very early,  Claudia Fernández  She has also evolved considerably in her approach to the game. More confident, more expressive in her decisions, even if her temperament remains discreet:

"At first, I lacked the confidence to let loose. I was very closed off. Today, I feel more confident in my moves and my ability to direct the game."

Another major area for improvement: communication with one's partner.

"It has always been difficult for me to communicate, both positive and negative things. But I've made a lot of progress in that area, and it's essential. In a partnership, communication is paramount."

An undiminished requirement

Claudia is demanding of herself, sometimes too much so, and she is aware of it:

“I punish myself when I fail… but also when I win. Gaby (Reca) often tells me that I need to learn to value what I do well. He’s right.”

Without seeking the limelight at all costs, the Madrilenian remains true to herself:

“I’m a calm person, not very expressive. Maybe I make less noise, but I prefer  talking with my padel  »

On the eve of the 2026 season,  Claudia Fernández  begins a new chapter, with serenity, measured ambition, and a maturity that continues to impress. A new project with  Sofia Araújo and the undiminished desire to continue growing, ball by ball.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
