5 points ahead.  This is the gap that separates  Coello / Tapia  of their pursuers  Chingotto / Galan  au  general FIP ranking . A chasm. Something to wonder about:  Have they already wrapped up the game for the world number 1 spot?

A season that wasn't so linear... at the start

At the start of the season, the Spanish-Argentine pair experienced some hiccups. Surprise defeats, lapses in concentration, and a less consistent performance than in 2024. Some saw this as signs of a slump, or even a decline. But as is often the case,  Coello and Tapia raised their voices at the key moment .

 A march started this summer

Just like their summer of 2024, the two men have shifted into high gear since June. The result?  Three consecutive titles , a regained dominance, and a mattress of points which is visibly thickening.

But the real fight is elsewhere: the Race ranking

If we look closer, the fight is much closer.  in the Race ranking  (the one that really matters when it comes to deciding the number 1s at the very end of the season):

  •  Tapia / Coello: 8540 points
  •  Galán / Chingotto: 7840 points
    Seulement  700 points difference ...

 Last Year's Truth

Between  July and December 2024 ,  Coello and Tapia had swept the board  (except the Premier Padel Finals). This means that any defeat this year would cause them to lose  valuable points . On their side,  Galan and Chingotto  had only made finals except for two defeats in the semi-finals against Stupaczuck and Yanguas.

 A possible comeback, but… unrealistic?

To dream of the throne,  Galán and Chingotto should win almost everything  until the end of the season. And that their rivals  fall early . A scenario that is hard to believe…

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
