Au Paris Major 2025 of Roland-Garros, the world's leading pair composed of the Spanish Arturo Coello and Argentinian Agustín Tapia hopes to quickly bring everyone into agreement, starting this week. Between sporting ambitions, personal goals, the Parisian atmosphere and analysis of their rivals, the two champions are approaching this meeting with determination.
"Paris is vital for the race for number one"
Arthur Coello:
"For us, this tournament is vital, especially in the fight for the world number one spot. It's a very important week to maintain the momentum we have, which I believe is very positive."
After a break and a shortened preparation, the duo enjoyed their return to Madrid.
Agustín Tapia:
"The Madrid tournament helped us a lot to get back into shape. We had a vacation, a short preseason... Last week was very positive for arriving here in the best possible conditions. We feel very good. We've already had two training sessions in Paris and, even though the conditions aren't the same as in Madrid, we're very comfortable. It's going to be a great tournament; all that's left is to get out on the pitch, enjoy what we're doing and the atmosphere in such a historic stadium."
“Our best version will be in Paris”
Both men admit that they did not show their best in Madrid.
Tapia:
"Our best performance wasn't in Madrid, that's obvious. But we have a lot of desire, and we think we'll show it here in Paris. We want to enjoy every moment: stepping onto the pitch, getting to know our opponents, and playing this difficult first match. We have to take it step by step, but also enjoy the facilities, the locker room, and the atmosphere. Being in a good mood is what allows us to step onto the pitch with energy and give it our all."
Their rivals: Galán and Chingotto, a reference
Asked about the difficulty of playing against Martin Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger or against Alejandro Galán and Fede Chingotto , Coello does not hesitate:
"Today, Galán and Chingotto are more complicated, much more consistent. Martín and Leo had a spectacular tournament in Madrid, with an incredible level. If they manage to maintain this rhythm, they can achieve a lot of results. But for now, it's been an isolated week. If they confirm, then yes, we can consider them a pair capable of aiming high."
"Leo Augsburger has the best smash in the world"
On a lighter note, Coello is asked about Leo Augsburger's smash, described as the most powerful on tour.
"I think so, without a doubt. In the aerial game, Leo is the best. He's already proven it. So, all that's left is to avoid lobbing him, or find another solution..."
