Coello on Galán / Chingotto: "They play better than us in the final"

Arturo Coello isn't making excuses. Guest of Bandeja, the broadcast of Premier PadelThe world number one acknowledged the recent superiority of Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto in the finals against Coello/Tapia. However, he considers this competition a tremendous source of motivation.

The battle for the throne of world padel is more open than ever, and Arturo Coello himself acknowledges it: Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galán have raised their level even further.

Interviewed on the show Bandeja de Premier Padel In this race for number 1, the Spaniard did not seek to minimize the performances of their great rivals.

"It's not that they seem to be pushing harder. They are. It's obvious. They're playing very well."

"Galán and Chingotto are playing better and performing more effectively."

Coello makes a particularly interesting observation regarding the direct confrontations between the two best pairs in the world.

With Agustín Tapia, the Valladolid player is now looking to reverse a trend which, in his own words, is starting to become a habit.

"We are trying to build good momentum and reverse a situation that is becoming commonplace in finals: Ale and Chingo are playing better and performing more effectively."

Rarely has the world number 1 made such a clear assessment.

No excuses, then. Coello simply believes that their opponents were able to perform better in those moments.

Chingotto "is ready to do anything" to become number 1

Coello places particular emphasis on Federico Chingotto.

For several seasons, the Argentinian has been pursuing one of the biggest goals of his career: reaching the top spot in the world.

And the current number 1 knows perfectly well what this quest represents.

"We are dealing with someone like Fede who fights for his dreams, who is ready to do anything to achieve them, and who is succeeding."

To maintain their position, Coello believes that he and Tapia must agree to provide the same investment.

"If we want to maintain this privileged situation, we must be prepared to give at least as much as he does. And in his case, that's all."

A threat that pushes Coello to progress

But far from experiencing this rivalry as a constraint, Coello seems to enjoy seeing Galán and Chingotto get closer.

"Personally, I really enjoy it. It motivates me."

This competition is all the more healthy as it highlights the good relationship existing between the players.

According to him, this battle forces both pairs to remain alert, to work and above all to evolve their padel.

And the public may be the first beneficiary.

"This forces us to remain attentive, alert, and to evolve in our game. And for the spectator, that's also what they appreciate most."

A race for number 1 that could still go on

Coello also acknowledges having changed his approach to a season.

He explains that he had long believed that a world number one ranking could practically be secured as early as May, June or July.

Experience taught him the opposite.

With a considerable number of points up for grabs in the latter part of the season, the number 1 believes the current priority is above all to building momentum before the matches that will have a significant impact on the standings.

One thing is certain: Coello / Tapia now know that they have no margin for error.

And the world number 1 makes no secret of it: In the last finals, Galán and Chingotto were better.
