Victory for Coello/Tapia in Rotterdam P1 in the final against Chingotto/Galán in two quick sets: 6/2 6/2.
Once again, Ale Galán was not at his best in the Rotterdam P1 final. Despite Chingotto's efforts to maintain the balance on his own, it proved difficult. Although he managed to stay in the game and maintain the stability he is known for, the Argentinian was unable to counter the steamroller formed by Coello and Tapia. Forget the doubts and rumors of a separation, they are more than ever back. Coello's vacation has clearly allowed him to relaunch his year, he who seemed demotivated last July.
But where has soldier Galán gone? He certainly continues to do the job against other pairs than Coello/Tapia. However, even against less formidable opponents, he seems more awkward than usual. Chingotto spoke of living a dream in Milan… but that little cloud has clearly dissipated. And the Argentinian is not really responsible for this situation, because if the pair is currently swaying, he has little to do with it.
King Arturo, on the other hand, dominated the match. While Tapia, calmly at his side, was content to keep up the pace, it was the Spaniard who set the tone and made the difference in this match.
When the left-hander rumbles, it hurts a lot. He attempted almost twice as many smashes as Galán, with eight successful ones out of 15 attempts. When Galán loses confidence in the air, it's his head that wobbles, and that's exactly what happened in the Netherlands this afternoon.
Next step : Valladolid P2Galán and Chingotto will have to get back on track quickly after this complicated final and a new defeat against Coello/Tapia.
