The first men's semi-final of the  Premier Padel Cupra Costa Daurada Tarragona P1  pits two pairs with very different trajectories this season:  Arturo Coello / Agustín Tapia , world number 1, against  Coki Nieto / Mike Yanguas , the tournament's 4th seed.

Coello / Tapia, in search of history

The reigning world champions continue to make history in men's padel. By winning their quarter-final,  Coello and Tapia won their 36th title together including  25 on the circuit Premier Padel , thus equaling the legendary duo  Belasteguin / Lima Only the pair Belasteguín / Juan Martín Díaz still beat them in the rankings.

Their regularity is impressive:  already nine semi-finals played in 2025 , with eight wins to their name. Their only misstep this season in the last four dates back to  Miami P1 , where they had bowed to  Stupaczuk / Lebrón .

Against Nieto and Yanguas, they are logically favorites, especially since the  face-to-face is favorable to them (2-0) . Better yet: they didn't concede  no sets since the start of the tournament in Tarragona , a performance which confirms their current form.

Nieto / Yanguas: Time for a turning point?

Si  Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas  are having a great week in Catalonia, this semi-final could represent much more than just an achievement: an opportunity to move up a level. Already present in the last four at  Malaga , the two young Spaniards sign their  second consecutive semi-final , an encouraging dynamic after a difficult period marked by six tournaments without reaching this stage.

But one statistic tarnishes their record:  0 wins in 5 semi-finals  so far. Will they finally manage to break that glass ceiling against the best pair in the world? Like their opponents,  They haven't lost a set in this tournament yet. , proof of their current solidity.

The meeting promises to be tense and strategic.  Coello and Tapia  will try to impose their power and their experience of major events, while  Nieto and Yanguas  will hope to capitalize on their newfound confidence to create an upset. A semi-final not to be missed on the central track of the Palau d'Esports Catalunya.
