What was going to be the state of form Alix Collombon and Léa Godallier on this first day of the French Championships? Engaged in P1 Rotterdam, the two French players arrived in Strasbourg after a busy schedule. Jessica Castello and Alejandra Salazar defeated in three sets on Wednesday with Araceli Martinez, Alix Collombon had not than a day of beatingt to join the 4Padel from Strasbourg. As for Léa Godallier, the adaptation was announced even more delicate for her : defeated in the second round in Rotterdam yesterday evening against Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (6/2 6/3, associated with the Italian Giorgia Marchetti), she only had a few hours to adapt.

A first match without any problems…

The first match, which began around noon, was going to be a formality for the triple French champions in title. Faced with the winners of the Centre – Val de Loire league Mathilde Mattei and Emilie Thauvin, the Collombon/Godallier pair very quickly imposed their power and did not concede any game in this 16efinal: 6/0 6/0 in less than an hour. Willing and not giving up, Mattei/Thauvin unfortunately failed to convert three game points which, at the very beginning of the second set, could have given them a little more confidence.

…and a second one on the way!

Heading for the 8e finals therefore. Started at the end of the afternoon, this match saw the top seed of these final phases start on the same basis as before. Facing Mélanie Ros and Marianne Vandaele (12e pair of the ranking), Léa Godallier and Alix Collombon once again showed their power and density of play, pocketing the first set 6/0. Facing them, Ros and Vandaele regularly found themselves cornered at the back of the track and suffered the varied game of the tournament favourites. Chiquitas, viboras, grids… Godallier/Collomboni gave the game a long run to their opponents, who nevertheless managed to win three games in the second set. Final result: 6/0 6/3 for the favorites, who will have spent two hours on the field today.

Continuation of the debates tomorrow with a quarter-final that Léa Godallier and Alix Collombon will play Wendy Barsotti / Elodie Invernon or Manon Macarie / Cassandra Senjean (match in progress at the time we put it online).
