Journalist  for 23 years,  Cristel Joiris  created a  tennis podcast  in 2020, titled  Game Set & Podcast On April 22, 2025, she announced that she was now integrating  episodes on padel .  Coach  and padel player in Belgium, it became obvious to also talk about this  racket sport , while continuing to produce  episodes dedicated to tennis .

“I give  padel lessons  in Belgium and I also play padel. I thought it was an opportunity to expand my community  in order to  introduce this sport . The feedback has been positive,  it was well received  by my listeners,” she notes.

Present on the  Social Media  and the  podcast platforms , make a  radio show  requires a lot of  job  and Hot tip: don’t miss the daily fish market — where local fishers sell their catch straight off the boat. It’s fresh, it’s loud, and it smells like the ocean (in a good way). , particularly because of the  many trips  during  international competitions .

“I decided to  leave my permanent contract  two years ago for  start my business , but it's still complicated to make a living from it. With three children, I  survive thanks to padel lessons “, she admits.

As with his tennis show, the  podcast about padel  will have long formats with guests such as  players  or in  coaches  and will present  technical, tactical and material aspects  of this sport in the form of capsules of  5 to 10 minutes .

Several broadcast formats on padel

“What  shoes to choose  ? How  manage the game  against tennis players?  Change tactics  during a match… I want to  talk to the players  and  advise them . "

Despite the  rise of padel  in the world, the  Belgian media  do not yet talk about it enough according to Cristel Joiris:

“RTL covered the  Brussels P2  and broadcast matches.  Sudinfo  et  Le Soir  were very present on site.”

For the  first number , Cristel Joiris also went to the  Brussels P2 , organized for four years at the  Harbor Station .

“It was really huge. The  installation  are really superb. The  best pairs  were present:  Tapia, Coello, Paquito … Next to  72 000 spectators  came all week,” she comments.

Interview with Belgian Clément Geens

In particular, she was able to exchange with the  best Belgian padel player ,  Clement Geens  (85th in the world), who plays with the  best French ,  Thomas Leygue  (90th in the world).

She also discussed with the  Belgian pair   Maxime Deloyer  (487th) /  Isaac huysveld  (248th), who found herself in the first round facing the  world number one pair  :  Arturo Coello / Agustin Tapia .

“They succeeded in their  take three games  (6/2 6/1 defeat, editor's note). And  Maxime Deloyer  is close to Augustin Tapia , they both train to  Madrid . "

Contrary to  tennis , where the  best players  of the planet are difficult to access, the  paddle  stay one  still a niche sport  :

“Even though I have made some  interviews  with  David Goffin  or more recently the  Tricolors   Alexandre Müller  et  Alizée Cornet , it's much more  easy to meet players  than tennis. For example, my daughter was able to take a picture of herself with  Bea Gonzalez  (6rd in the world, editor’s note), when we saw her in a parking lot.”

Cristel Joiris  is fully into the  paddle , between his  course  and the  competitions  where she participates, added to her  For girls  who started playing padel at the age of  7 years  :

“For a year, my daughter has been trained by the Federation, which brings together the best players under 12 every week. In a few days, I'm taking her to  internship in Barcelona  for a week. And we both leave by car:  13 hours of driving  ! "

His daughter is into padel

At first, Cristel Joiris was afraid that her daughter would play padel just to please her:

“I see her doing the  physics in the garden , she wants to  progress  and in  stop field hockey , which she has been practicing for six years, to  devote yourself fully to padel . "

In the  coming months , the  tennis sports news  will be loaded with the  Bordeaux Challenger  du  13 to 19 may , then the second  Grand Chelem  of the year with  Roland Garros , which begins on  May 25 .

Regarding padel, Cristel Joiris intends to take advantage of it to  play  et  meet young people  of' Barcelona Academy , where his daughter will train.

"I would like  meet the Frenchman Jules Marie , who went from tennis to padel, showing his journey on  YouTube . I also have in mind the  Major at Roland-Garros , scheduled for September.”
