The great coach Severino Iezzi (Seve) tells us everything about how to build a pair:

I was born and raised in Mar de Plata, the birthplace of padel. In this city, the padel is very popular there and gave great players (Cristian Gutiérrez, Juan Martín Díaz, Leo Padovani and many others).

I give lessons at the Golf Canal, and lead the methodological part of the Get Indoor school. Finally, I am the coach of WPT number 3 pair Matías Díaz and Maxi Sánchez.

Choose the ideal pair or build the best pair:

In this article I will try to help you build a pair of padel. I specify that this note concerns the padel social, so I'm referring to amateur players.

  1. Set my true level

It is very important to be realistic with your own level of play. This way there will be less frustration for both players. This will make it easier to find a partner who has the same ambitions.

  1. Similar or similar ages

Being a partner at padel, it is much more than in many other sports. It is therefore better to be friends and have common relationships and interests. Obviously there are pairs with big age differences that work but it's a general feeling that I've seen in my career.

  1. Complicity

To form a team, you have to be an accomplice. It is therefore recommended to share something other than the moments spent on the field.

  1. Geographical and socio-cultural proximity

To get a pair that works, she has to train regularly. However, partners who do not live in the same place can make it difficult to perform these practices and games.

  1. Position in the field

This is an important point as we are always looking for a partner that complements our own shortcomings and allows the team to be stronger.

Our preference will always be for a player who plays on the opposite side to ours, but it is always recommended to learn to play on both sides of the field.

The reason is not only to learn to learn, but there may be side changes during a point.

Help from a teacher padel can also help to target the partners I need. For example, the teacher can validate my level of padel and thus target partners with the same level. Then, we can filter the potential partners according to his age, my complicity with him, on which side does he play, etc.

To conclude, we must never forget that we are playing padel for pleasure. This is the main objective.
