Le Padel Club de Bois d'Arcy launched the first stage of DataCore Padel Open. A test like no other which proves that the padel can perfectly fit into a business dynamic. Pierre Aguerreberry - Vice President, Southern Europe Sales looks back on this first edition and the reasons for this ordeal.

How / Why DataCore is embarking on padel ?

DataCore is a pioneering software publisher in Software Defined Storage - that was over 20 years ago now - which is a technology recently adopted by all storage vendors on the market. We are convinced that the rise of Padel in France and in general in the world will also be adopted very widely and we immediately knew how to draw the parallel between our own history and that of this sport still too little known but which once tested immediately generates adhesion.

What is the purpose of the competition?

This is a pan-European competition since we have planned 4 stages - France, Germany, England, Italy - which aims to introduce this sport to our ecosystem. Like any competition there will be winners and losers, but the essential objective remains the discovery with a complementary competitive aspect.

How does the Open work?

Each European stage will allow the selection of the 4 semi-finalist teams and bring them together by May / June 2020 for the final competition. We will thus have 16 teams that will compete in one of the 4 target countries with the first winner of the DataCore Open as the key. Padel.

On the human / relational level, what can this type of competition bring to the company?

To discover a sport with a format that links the initial practice, the competition while spending a whole day with our partners and our team undeniably strengthens the links. We are used to organizing a lot of marketing operations but this is a notion of curiosity that ultimately allows us to be a very pleasant surprise.

Why the padel, can it be a more constructive vector than another sport within the framework of the company?

Le Padel it is first and foremost a team sport since it is played in two and which immediately generates support since it is very fun. Then it is one of the few sports that we know where you can play between men and women without any level problem since the physical aspect takes a back seat, coordination with your partner being the most important. At DataCore we convey all these values: team spirit, fairness, diversity, commitment and a lot of fun.
