Delfi Brea was forced to retire in the semi-final of the Valladolid P2, leaving doubts about her participation in the Bordeaux stage which starts this week. The Argentinian player had to throw in the towel in the middle of the second set, when she was trailing 7/6 3/1 alongside Gemma Triay facing the duo Bea González / Claudia Fernández.
An exit between pain and emotions
After a first set of crazy intensity, concluded at tie-breaker in favor of Bea and Claudia, Delfi began to show obvious signs of discomfort in her calf. Despite a bandage applied after an operation by the physio and an attempt to continue, the pain became too much. Every move, every strike, seemed an ordeal.
Determined not to aggravate the injury, Brea eventually retired, with a heavy heart, bursting into tears in the arms of his friend Bea González. A moving and emotional moment.
Towards a package for Bordeaux?
This injury comes at the worst possible time. Bordeaux P2 starts next week, and the presence of Brea / Triay was highly anticipated by the French public. The world number 2 pair are coming off a victory in the Italy Major, and their absence would be a real sporting loss for the tournament, as their level and intensity contribute to the spectacle.
For the moment, no official announcement has been made, but given the intensity of the pain and the premature withdrawal in Valladolid, the doubt is real. If the injury were to force Delfi to retire, it would be a big blow for the Bordeaux organization.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
