Delfina Brea begins a 2025 season full of changes and ambitions. After a great adventure alongside Bea González, Argentina teams up with Gemma Triay, former number 1 on the circuit. His goal? To get the throne of women's paddle occupied by Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría. Before entering the track at Riyadh P1, Delfi confided in Mark on his preparation, his change of partner and his view on the evolution of the circuit.
A well-deserved break before the restart
After an intense 2024 season, Delfi took a step back in Argentina, with his family. “I had left all my energy on the track, so it was necessary to rest and come back with desire.” The preparation then went well: “We focused on physical fitness and automatisms with Gemma. I feel good, light and ready to attack this season.”
Gemma Triay's choice and the separation with Bea
The pair Brea / Gonzalez has had its ups and downs, including injuries to Bea González that marked the season. Despite everything, Delfi speaks of a separation on good terms: “We are very good friends. The discussion was sincere and full of respect. I just felt that I needed a change, a new challenge.”
With Gemma Triay, the connection was instant. “We have known each other for a long time as rivals, so we didn't need much time to adapt. Our goal is clear: to get the number 1 spot.”
What makes Ari and Paula strong
Why is it so difficult to dislodge Sanchez and Josemaría ? Delfi explains it simply: “They have playing styles that complement each other perfectly. Paula is left-handed, which makes it difficult for opponents. They understand each other perfectly and are great competitors.”
Despite this, Argentina does not doubt its ability to reach the top: “I've been saying for four years that I want to be number 1. I haven't done it yet, but I know it will happen.”
Looking back on an eventful 2024 season
Delfi had to manage a complicated year, especially with the injuries of Bea González. “It wasn’t easy, because beyond the sport, she’s a close friend. I wanted to be the best teammate possible and I’m proud of having been able to adapt by playing with different partners.”
She even had to play on the left in some competitions: “It was a real challenge, but I like big challenges. With Alba Gallardo I had to take things more in hand, while with Andrea Ustero I could let her express herself more.”
The evolution of the circuit and prospects for the future
Delfi believes that Premier Padel still needs to make progress on certain aspects: “It is a good project, but it lacks a real sports base and better organisation.”
As for the gap between theArgentina and Spain, she sees it especially at the level of structures: “In Argentina, the sport is growing, but there is still a lack of infrastructure and investment. Today, it is very difficult to make a living from padel.”
On the rules, she campaigns for a return of the Golden Point : “It gives us a different identity and brings spectacle.”
Objective 2025: to establish ourselves among the best
With Gemma Triay, Delfi Brea has a great card to play this year. She says she is ready to face Bea and Claudia Fernandez, his former partner having formed a promising new pair. “Claudia will give her the solidity she needs. We will surely have some great clashes against them.”
Le calendar she likes, even if she emphasizes the difficulty of the many moves. She imagines a future where players will make strategic choices as in tennis : “In the future, we will have to select tournaments based on points and conditions.”

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
