The contrast between the revenues generated by tennis and padel is highlighted by a striking comparison of the prize pools of the end-of-year tournaments: ATP Finals and Premier Padel Finals. While padel is growing rapidly in popularity, the financial gaps remain huge.

A colossal difference

For the 2024 edition, the total prize money distributed during the ATP Finals amounts to: 14,65 million, a huge amount compared to the 600 000 euros of Premier Padel Finals. This represents a difference of more than 24 times between the two competitions.

The winners' rewards

  • Tennis ATP Finals winner Jannik Sinner walks away with 2 237 200 euros.
  • Padel : In comparison, Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto, champions of the Premier Padel Finals, each pocket 52 500 euros.

Finalists and other participants

Even for the finalists, the gaps remain impressive:

  • Tennis ATP Finals finalist wins 1 123 400 euros.
  • Padel : The finalists of the Premier Padel Finals receive 30 000 euros per player.

The reasons for this gap

  1. Audience and sponsors: Tennis is a globally established sport, attracting major sponsors and a massive audience, which generates much higher advertising and television revenues.
  2. History and infrastructure: Tennis has a much older history and benefits from strong organization and global media coverage.
  3. Development of padel: Although padel is booming, particularly thanks to the circuit Premier Padel, there is still a long way to go to compete financially with sports like tennis.
Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
