La Women's P1500 final at The Monkey Padel lived up to all its promises. The match pitted the two best pairs of the weekend against each other: Marie Maligo / Marie Lefevre (seeded 1) face Kimy Barla / Deborah Alquier (seed 2). And in a close match from start to finish, it was the favorites of the table who emerge victorious at the end of two close tie-breaks : 7 / 6 7 / 6.
A flying start for Alquier / Barla
The meeting starts strong for Barla and Alquier, who quickly took control of the match with an advantage of 4/1. Very aggressive in the exchanges, they put pressure on the opposing pair... before seeing Maligo and Lefevre gradually return, until it gets back to 5/5.
In the tie-break, the intensity rose again. And despite the pressure put on by Barla / Alquier, it was Maligo and Lefevre that are needed 7 points to 5, asserting their composure in key moments.
A tense second round
The second set was even more closely contested. Three breaks on each side, a constant desire to get to the net, but also a lot of tension. Barla and Alquier even get a opportunity to conclude the round at 6/5More Maligo raises his voice, chaining together good shots to force a new tie-break.
As in the first round, the duo Maligo / Lefevre proves more effective when it comes to concluding. Final score: 7 / 6 7 / 6, in a very close final where both teams had their chances.

A title that feels good
This victory marks a great reward for Marie Maligo, which remained on a final lost at the last P1500 at Set Padel -, next to Marie-Amelie Dardaine as well as a final also lost to P2000 WinWin Padel two weeks ago. This time, she goes to the end, and wins the trophy with Marie Lefevre, in what constitutes their first title together on the circuit.
And now, direction Bandol
The two players will continue next week with the FIP Silver Bandol, a meeting of a completely different caliber. But with this dynamic and this title in the bag, the Franco-Belgian duo arrives launched.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
