Barcelona Finals (December 10–14) will have a very special flavor this year. For the first time since the end of the WPT era, Lalo Alzueta et Dario Magro will return to the microphones of the professional circuit. An announcement welcomed as a minor event: the two most iconic voices of padel are making their comeback, and it's Premier Padel who welcomes them.
Lalo Alzueta, the voice of a decade
A cult figure of World Padel Tour, Lalo Alzueta accompanied the media rise of padel, it became the voice of padel, to such an extent that many still associate his voice with the founding moments of sport.
His duet with Seba Nerone It remains in our memories: passion, rhythm and a unique way of telling the story of padel.
He is also the one who popularized one of the most famous nicknames on the circuit: “El Lobo” Juan Lebrón.
In 2021, he left broadcasting to return to basketball… but without ever completely closing the door on padel. He even admitted it recently on social media:
"I never completely closed that door. Perhaps it will reopen when we least expect it."
The prophecy has been fulfilled.
Darío Magro, the natural heir
Following Alzueta's departure, Dario Magro had taken up the mantle at the WPT, eventually becoming one of the most popular commentators in the community.
Having also worked trackside, he knows the game, the players, and the dynamics better than anyone. Since the end of the WPT, he has continued to appear in various projects, including the Hexagon Cupwithout losing its connection with the public.
A return that rekindles nostalgia… and lays the groundwork for 2026
Their presence at the Finals marks a symbolic moment: for the first time, Lalo and Darío will be commentating on a tournament Premier Padel.
This is a way for the circuit to offer the Hispanic public a "premium" end to the season with two of the voices that have best told the story of modern padel.
One question remains: Is this a one-off return or the beginning of a new chapter?
For now, nothing is confirmed for 2026. But one thing is for sure: hearing these two voices again at the final tournament of the year will be one of the great pleasures of this end of season.
Fans had been waiting for it for a long time. Premier Padel did.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
