With more than 25 P100s won in less than two years, Dimitri Selve establishes itself as an essential figure in tournaments padel lovers in France. Portrait of an atypical player from football and combat sports, who became one of the most feared competitors in his category in record time.
An express course in padel
Native Wattrelos, in the north, Dimitri Selve discovered padel only a few years ago 1 year and 8 monthsBorn on February 6, 1989, this 36-year-old player had never touched a racket before. He comes from the world of Football and combat sports, which makes his rise even more surprising. And yet, in such a short time, he has already garnered more than 25 P100 wins, mainly in his favorite club: the Chantilly Club in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, where he is fired.
An atypical and formidable style of play
What makes Dimitri strong is precisely his profile extraordinaryPhysically strong, he can give the impression of not being very mobile… but his opponents often fall prey to this. “I am often told that I am a big hindrance because I stay in half-position: neither at the net nor behind the line. It is quite destabilizing,” he explains. Added to this is a solid defense, and an mastery of the double-window smash, thanks to his left playing position and his dominant right hand.
A competitor with an impressive track record
With an ambitious vision about to twenty different partners, Dimitri was able to adapt to each style of play to achieve victories. He also won a P250, proof that he has the potential to aim even higher. Currently ranked 2600th French, he continues to progress, encouraged by those around him and motivated by the pleasure of competition. Fortunately, according to him with a touch of humor, “budget-wise, it’s okay, it doesn’t put me in financial difficulty.”
On the way to a record?
With more than 25 P100 to his credit, Dimitri Selve could well be the national record holder in this category. A statistic that we have not been able to verify, but which in any case testifies to a true amateur padel lover.
