Why the  Premier Padel Dubai P1 Historically held outdoors, is it being contested this year in  indoor  The Spanish daily newspaper  Brand  revisits the reasons for this change, which stemmed from a major controversy in 2024 surrounding the  playing conditions deemed “inhumane” .

Last year, several players complained about the extreme heat during the tournament, which was held outdoors under the scorching sun.  United Arab Emirates Temperatures were around  40 degrés , transforming the glass-enclosed courts into veritable greenhouses. After their victory in the round of 32 against  Paquito Navarro  et  paul cardona , the Argentinians  Ramiro Moyano  et  Juan Cruz Belluati  had made a lasting impression:

"It was a match played in inhumane conditions. The only real prize is that no one fainted," said Moyano, visibly exhausted.

In the wake of this, the  PPA (Players Padel Association)  had published a statement denouncing the health risks to players and staff, pointing to  extreme working conditions  and a lack of adaptation of the circuit to local climatic realities.

Faced with this protest, Premier Padel had reacted in 2024 by moving some matches to nightfall, but without real success. In 2025, the decision was therefore made:  The tournament is moving to the indoor complex of the Hamdan Sports Complex. , a modern and air-conditioned venue, offering ideal conditions for athletes and the public.

This choice is part of a broader evolution of the circuit. After several weather-related incidents —  rains in Riyadh ,  humidity in Chile ,  strong winds in Doha  —, many players are now calling for indoor tournaments to ensure more consistent play. As recently reminded  Jon sanz “Padel is a precision sport; it must be played indoors.”

Premier Padel : should we play all tournaments indoors?

In 2025,  14 out of 23 tournaments  of the calendar  Premier Padel  matches are now played indoors, compared to only 9 outdoors.  majors  (Rome, Paris, Mendoza and Doha) remain organized outdoors to preserve their spectacular dimension.
