We had the chance to test Juani Mieres' new racket for 2020: the magnificent Dunlop Galactica!

The Dunlop Galactica is a high-end racket, in the shape of a drop of water, but rather light (366 g for the model we tested).

First impressions

First of all on an aesthetic level, the racket is sublime, rough paint, Tri-Max bridge, Booster Grooves grooves on the sides: we have the feeling of really having a high quality pala in your hands. What surprises first is the weight distribution.

The racket may be light, we can feel that the balance is at the top of the pala. But after adding two overgrips, it just feels like well balanced racket, very slightly in the lead. As soon as we warm up, the noise from the pala makes us think that we are going to have a good time.

 

On high balls

The Galactica is particularly convenient above: the foam Pro eva responds very well and it is very easy to put the ball where you want on the worked smashes. No need to force too much to find length in bandeja/vibora, we feel that things are progressing well. On power smashes, the Galactica is stiff enough to perfectly transmit the power of the arm.

If we put some force, the ball leaves really quickly and we had no difficulty in bringing it back to our court. Same on par 3 where the rough paint comes to give a little helping hand to "scratch" the ball. A pure treat.

 

In defense

The distribution at the head may require a small adaptation for the defenses after windows, but the pala is light enough to be able to get out even of the most complex situations. In addition, his fairly wide sweet spot will be of great service to you, especially in return.

As soon as you get used to the weight a little bit in your head, it becomes a breeze to alternate striking hard, lobs, chiquitas ... mixture of mid EVA foam and 6k carbon clearly makes it easier to achieve very precise lobs. Even if defense is not at first glance the preferred area of ​​this Galactica, its very satisfactory exit from the ball quickly gives you a feeling of security.

Net

Galactica also does very well on the net, the gum reacts perfectly and as soon as you accelerate your volley a little, the ball leaves really fast. If you are used to playing with FOAM or Eva Soft foams, you will have to put a little more on blocking or in the defense / attack transition, but otherwise it's just a pleasure to be at the net with this pala. The 6k carbon brings a mixture of precision, power and comfort, which makes one feel comfortable to volley in any position.

 

In short

It is a large pala and it is not surprising that it is in the bestsellers of the beginning of 2020. Whether you are a versatile left player, or a slightly aggressive right player, you will love this pala.

Extremely versatile, this racket gave us a feeling of security in all situations. The combination Pro Eva / Carbon 6k Japanese foam provides sufficient rigidity to be precise and powerful in attack, without missing a ball exit in defense.

In terms of durability, the transparent protection on the top of the pala does its job well, it took a few hits on the windows but did not move.
