We knew about beach tennis, but now a new trend seems to be emerging: beach padel. A video recently posted on Instagram by Asia Padel Events has just sown the seed of an amazing… and potentially brilliant idea!
An unprecedented crossover between two disciplines
On the sand court, rackets in hand, players exchange balls like on a traditional padel court, but with their feet in the sand, like in beach tennis. The visuals are striking: glass like in padel, a demarcated playing cage, but the floor is entirely covered in sand. Movement is slower, footing less stable, and the rallies take on a whole new dimension.
A serious project or just a publicity stunt?
It's hard to know at this stage if this is a marketing ploy to get people talking about an original idea. One thing is certain: the video has caught the attention of the padel community, curious to see if the concept can take root in tourist spots, or even initiate a new type of summer event.
A future for padel in this environment?
In the image shared by Asia Padel Events, we see a track on fine sand, which makes it impossible for the ball to bounce, but if we imagine this same ground on wet sand and therefore much harder... the idea could become viable with some logistical efforts!

With the spectacular development of padel across the world, each innovation is scrutinized with interestAfter the rooftop courts, in the heart of cities, by the sea, here perhaps comes the era of padel "barefoot in the sand".
If this format were to develop, it could offer a fun, summery, and spectacular new showcase for this booming sport. It remains to be seen whether the authorities and players will see it as more than just a curiosity...
