How to sharpen your focus and be more effective on the pitch? In his latest video, “Under control in padel” , published on the YouTube channel of Padel Stuff (At the Heart of Padel), Andoni Bardasco talks with Fred about a theme as simple as it is essential: on the track, there are things we can control... and others we can't. The common thread of the discussion: focus your energy on what you can really control, and not get distracted!
Simple gestures, but a real difference on the field
Former professional player (ex-world No. 25), today Head Coach recognized (more than 450 trainees welcomed to Bilbao each year), Andoni Bardasco distils with precision and pedagogy the foundations of a more "intelligent" padel. With Fred, he lists four habits every gamer can adopt , whatever your level. Simple actions, often forgotten, but which can make a real difference on the field.
Four little “tips”
According to Andoni, it is first important to watch the ball when playing, and thus stay connected to the dynamics of the point. It is then very useful to announce the score aloud. Little emphasized by coaches in general, this tip allows you to stay mentally present in the match, to set the pace of the game, and to mark the important moments. Using the time between points is also the advice given to us: precious seconds that allow us to clear our minds and fully switch to the point to come. Finally, let's not forget the hardware: Changing the balls should be done regularly. Why? We invite you to find out...
1/ Watch the ball until the end
Stay connected to the current point and improve your typing quality.
2/ Announce the score aloud
A simple tool to maintain focus, structure play, and mark match highlights.
3/ Use the time between points well
A few seconds to refocus, breathe and approach the next point with more clarity.
4/ Change the balls regularly
An often overlooked element that nevertheless strongly influences the quality of the game.
“You control these details!” Andoni Bardasco insists. And that's the whole point of this video: it gives power back to the players You don't need to be a top athlete to improve your game. Sometimes you just need to remember that padel is also a matter of attention and rigor, values that are the hallmarks of the academy.
