La Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) revealed the list of players selected for the European Padel Championship , expected from October 21 to 25 in La Línea (Cádiz) As in the previous edition, La Roja will appear without its main stars, but with a solid group capable of aiming for the title again.
Weight loss
In men, no Coello, Galán, Lebrón, Paquito … The same observation is made on the women’s side, where there will be a lack Triay, Ari Sánchez, Paula Josemaría, Bea González, Claudia Fernández and Ale Salazar .
A new generation in charge
Despite these forfeits, the selectors Juanjo Gutiérrez et Icíar Montes can count on a competitive team, mixing experience and youth.
- Male selection : Javi Leal, Álex Ruiz, Víctor Ruiz, José Antonio García Diestro, Juanlu Esbrí, Álvaro Cepero, Pol Hernández and David Gala .
- Women's selection : Andrea Ustero, Jessica Castelló, Lorena Rufo, Martina Calvo, Alejandra Alonso, Lucía Sainz, Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias .
Objective: to retain the double title
Spain had achieved the men/women double in 2024 , and will once again start as favorites against nations that are progressing quickly. In the final phase of the FIP Euro Padel Cup 2025 , the Spanish will notably cross Italy, Portugal, France, Great Britain, Netherlands, Sweden and Germany .
A challenge met despite everything
Without its usual leaders, Spain will have a card to play to confirm the depth of its talent pool. More than a test, this Euro could be a great showcase for the new Spanish generation .
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
