Behind untouchable Spain, the battle for second European place promises to be particularly contested between Italy, France et Portugal. If the Blues and the Seleção have arguments to put forward, the Italians appear as the natural favorites for this finalist place during the 2025 European Padel Championships in gentlemen.
Among the men, the Blue Team boasts an impressive squad, both in terms of experience and the density of its players. The Italian team can notably count on four representatives of the world top 100, compared to none for France. A statistic that weighs heavily.
Among them, two names particularly attract attention: Aris Patiniotis et Alvaro Montiel, both former partners of the Frenchman Thomas LeyguePatiniotis, originally from Mar del Plata (Argentina), and Montiel, born in Barcelona, have joined the Italian national team and bring valuable international experience. Alongside them, Frame Cassetta (79th in the world) and Flavio Abatte (87th) complete a formidable quartet.
Italian men's team:
Aris Patiniotis, Marco Cassetta, Flavio Abatte, Álvaro Montiel Caruso, Simone Cremona, Simone Iacovino, Lorenzo Di Giovanni, Giulio Graziotti.
Coaches: Marcela Ferrari & Filippo Scala
On paper, Italy therefore has the strongest squad behind Spain. Certainly, some observers believe that the rankings of Italian players are slightly overvalued due to the large number of FIP tournaments organized in Italy, but their regularity and collective experience remain undeniable.
Facing them, the France relies on a more homogeneous and united group, while the Portugal will once again count on the Deus brothers, true pillars of the selection. The latter, classified in the world top 40, remain the headliners of a team which also features Pedro Araujo (131) et Antonio Luque (189), regulars of the FIP Tour.
Logic therefore gives a slight advantage to ItalyBut France and Portugal have the weapons to create surprise.
