Fabrice Peroux, founder of Isla Padel and the Beau plan FIP Star, has not only created a padel club in Mauritius, he has imagined a project that combines local traditions, innovation and international competitions. A look back at a bold journey that places Mauritius on the world padel map.
Transition from tennis to padel and creation of Isla Padel
I arrived in Mauritius in 2004 and opened my first tennis company in 2007. I started hearing about padel in 2016 and installed the first courts in Mauritius, at One & Only Le Saint Géran, in 2018. Then there was the Covid period, and it was finally in 2023 that I launched Isla Padel after having worked hard on the plans to create a club that is both a real padel club and a tribute to Mauritius and its history.
From the outset, the ambition to create a international tournament was present with the Beautiful FIP STAR Plan. The transition from tennis to padel was a natural one. When you are passionate about sports and a new racket sport appears, it is logical to want to try it. This is how the adventure began, and it continues today.

The creation of the Isla site Padel
The idea was to design a nice padel club which reflects the soul of Mauritius. For this, it was necessary to find the right site and suitable partners. My partners So beautiful Plan et Novaterra were looking for someone to develop sports activities in their new city. We found common ground and identified the ideal location after several visits to Novaterra's lands.
The site is marked by the presence of a historic fireplace, ruins and uneven terrain. This allowed me to create a unique structure: the four regular fields are organized around a central field. The club is designed to provide a pleasant experience for members on a daily basis, while being able to host international events.
The architectural idea was also to integrate open spaces, with a restaurant, a tapas bar and a friendly reception. The manager and coaches' office is designed with windows to encourage interaction with members as soon as they arrive. It is a modern revisit of the traditional tennis club, adapted to padel.

Launch of the first international padel tournament in Mauritius
It all started with the creation of the club in Beautiful Plan, from its conception. The ambition of an international event was already there. By chance, or rather thanks to good encounters, I came across Jean-Thomas Peyrou, who organized the Bordeaux P2. I immediately saw in him the ideal person to carry out this project, thanks to his skills and his network.
We quickly reached an agreement and signed to launch the tournament. In just five months, we found financial partners, set up the organization and formed local and international teams. It was intense work, but also a great human adventure. Mauritian and French teams collaborated to make this event a success. The media also played an important role, allowing our partners to have an excellent return on investment in terms of image.
Review of the first edition of the Beau Plan FIP STAR
For a first edition, the tournament was a real success. I didn't expect to welcome players of this level, nor professionals from all over the world. The club, as it was designed, proved to be perfect for an event of this magnitude.
Thanks to partners such as Orange Eight, ABC Banking, Beachcomber et Impact Production Group, we were able to offer a complete experience, not only sporting, but also cultural and touristic. The players and visitors appreciated the welcome, the smile and the Mauritian service, beyond the purely technical aspects.
Of course, we have identified areas for improvement for future editions. But the involvement of the sponsors, who have become true partners, has been a huge satisfaction. The team ofIsla Padel managed this event like professionals, despite the fact that it was their first experience of this type.

Objectives for 2025 and developments
We want to move up to a higher category, with a FIP Platinum. I proposed to the International Padel Federation to schedule the event in October, a period when weather conditions are ideal in Mauritius.
We will keep the current teams, while strengthening them. Organizing this tournament in just five months was a huge challenge, and we will have more time to prepare for the future. The goal is to continue to grow this tournament and make it a major event in the paddle in the Indian Ocean.
We were the first to organize an international padel tournament in the region, and we intend to remain at the forefront of its development. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate. Thank you, see you soon!
