Faced with the smash of tennis players: bet on anchoring!

Are you tired of tennis players who get down to business? padel and who machine-gun you with their super-powerful smash? Here is the parade.

Coach and analyst Romain Taupin explains the method to apply.

“Tennis players are generally very good spikers at padel. During a rally, a player with a very good smash will tend to anticipate opposing lobs to be well positioned to hit the ball and score points.

One of the tactics to counter this advantage is anchoring (or fixing). This tactic involves repeatedly volleying the player to "anchor" (fix) the volley, focus on anticipating a low ball rather than a lob, resulting in when you lob him, he will usually arrive badly positioned to use his smash. You will then have monopolized it.

At high level, this is done almost systematically due to the quality of the opposing smashes.”
