December 3, 2024 marks the end of an era in the world of padel. Fernando Belasteguín, one of the greatest players of all time, played his last professional match in the round of XNUMX of the Milan Premier Padel P1. Alongside Valentino Libaak, Bela bowed to Lucas Bergamini et Javi Garrido with a score of 6/3 6/4. A match rich in symbolism, especially thanks to the presence of Garrido, who, as a child, admired Belasteguín as his role model. The latter often spoke of how much Bela had inspired him and how much he had learned from him over the years.

An extraordinary career

With 230 tracks, 286 final contests, 6 world championships et 16 consecutive years as world number 1, Fernando Belasteguín leaves the field at 45 years old, leaving behind an unmatched record. But his achievements are not just numbers: he embodied excellence, perseverance, the ability to reinvent himself and passion, becoming a source of inspiration for entire generations of players.

A mentor for new generations

Beyond his performances, Bela has made history by passing on his knowledge and experience to the younger generation. Players like Arturo Coello, Agustin Tapia or, mike yanguas, with whom he shared the track, learned a lot from him. Belasteguín was not only a teammate to them, but also a guide, playing a key role in their development as players on the circuit.

An eternal legacy

Fernando Belasteguín leaves the courts, but his influence will continue to resonate in the world of padel. He leaves behind a legacy not only in records and victories, but also in values: humility, love of sport and transmission.

Thank you Bela!

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
