 The subtle dig at Galán and Chingotto 

For Bela, one thing is clear:  Pairings are no longer always based on the pair's performance , but sometimes on compromises, even impossibilities. He cites the example of  Alejandro Galán , today associated with  Federico Chingotto  but who, according to him,  “would surely prefer to play with Arturo (Coello) rather than with Chingotto” . A way to emphasize that  only Tapia and Coello  currently have the luxury of evolving with their partner of choice.

“When I started playing with Agustín Tapia, he was ranked 44th in the world… And I agreed to move to the right so that the pairing worked better.”

Despite his 16 years at the top of the world rankings,  Fernando Belasteguín never hesitated to step aside for the good of the duo This is also what he passed on to his partners throughout his career.
