The FFT has published the new padel competition guides for the 2027 sports year Note the timeline: these rules will not apply in 2027, but from the  1st September 2026 , until August 31, 2027.

The reform touches on several important points: new tournament categories, implementation of cuts, evolution of the scales, new assimilations, coaching, registrations via MOJA and stricter management of forfeits.

 The P1500s become P2000s, the P2000s become P3000s

The pyramid of French tournaments is evolving with the official introduction of the categories  P2000  et  P3000 .

In the facts :

 The old P1500s become P2000s.

 The old P2000s become P3000s.

The new hierarchy will therefore be composed of the  P25, P50, P100, P250, P500, P1000, P2000 and P3000 .

This change allows for a clearer progression between categories. Major tournaments on the French circuit will now be identified as  P3000 , while the intermediate level between P1000 and P3000 will be called  P2000 .

 Cuts implemented up to the P250

This is one of the most significant changes for amateur players. Ranking limits are being introduced in senior and senior plus tournaments, from  P25 to P250 inclusive , in order to homogenize the levels.

Registrations will be taken for these categories.  in order of arrival provided that the cut is respected.

In gentlemen:

 P250:  Forbidden to players ranked in the top 1000 inclusive.

 P100:  banned from the top 5,000 inclusive.

 P50:  banned from the top 5,000 inclusive.

 P25:  banned from the top 5,000 inclusive.

In the ladies:

 P250:  banned from the top 100 included.

 P100:  banned from the top 500 included.

 P50:  banned from the top 5,000 inclusive.

 P25:  banned from the top 5,000 inclusive.

For mixed tournaments, there is no limit in P250. However, P100 tournaments are closed to men in the top 5,000 and women in the top 500. The cuts are made at the top 10,000 men and top 1,000 women in P50, then at the top 30,000 men and top 3,000 women in P25.

Youth competitions remain without ranking limits.

From  P500 No player is banned because of their ranking. However, pairs will be selected according to their  weight , and not according to the order of arrival. The best rankings will therefore retain priority for entry into the tournament.

 The P500 scale is changing

The distribution of points in  P500  is revised, with a more progressive scale based on the final ranking. The winner retains  500 points , compared to 425 for the runner-up, 375 for the third-place finisher and 350 for the fourth-place finisher.

For men, the decline then becomes gradual:

 5nd: 300 points

 8nd: 270 points

 16nd: 155 points

 24nd: 100 points

 32nd and beyond: 15 points

In the ladies:

 5nd: 300 points

 8nd: 225 points

 16nd: 120 points

 24nd: 30 points

 25nd and beyond: 20 points

The points of  P1000  correspond to double those distributed in P500. The final ranking and the ranking matches will therefore retain real importance, especially for players aiming for a specific place rather than just participation.

 A new grid for assimilations

The FFT is also changing the rules of assimilation for players who have already had a padel ranking since the computerization of the ranking in October 2018, but who have subsequently disappeared from the administrative database.

The reassignment will depend on two elements:

 the best ranking achieved by the player;

 the number of years that have passed since this ranking.

For men, a former player ranked between 101st and 300th place could, for example, be considered equivalent to:

 750e , if his best ranking dates back to a maximum of two seasons ago;

 2 500e , if it goes back three to five seasons;

 3 500e , if it goes back six to ten seasons.

A former top 20 player may be reclassified.  100th, 300th or 600th  based on the seniority of its ranking.

For players who have reached a ranking between 5,001 and 10,000, the assimilation may range from  15 to 000 .

In the women's category, a former top 20 player could be considered.  50th, 80th or 120th A player previously ranked between 101st and 200th place may be repositioned.  300th, 600th or 1000th .

However, no assimilation will be possible for a player whose best ranking was beyond the  1000th place .

 Coaching remains permitted, but its framework is specified.

Coaching is permitted in all categories, from  P25 to P3000 , as well as during youth, senior, senior plus, para padel championships and team competitions.

A pair will be able to declare  one or two coaches  for the entire competition. Both will be able to intervene during the same match, but only alternately during rest periods. They will never be able to advise the players simultaneously.

The coaches must present themselves to the referee before the first match with their  license, an identity document and, if necessary, proof of their affiliation with a padel club A single coach can follow several pairs during the tournament.

The FFT also adds a warning regarding a practice known in some tournaments:

 Paying one's partner, or agreeing to be paid to participate as a player in a pairs competition, may be subject to disciplinary action.

The federation believes this practice can undermine the integrity of competitions and sporting ethics. Therefore, the rule does not concern the remuneration of a coach, but rather that of a...  partner recruited to play in the tournament .

 MOJA will change the way registrations and payments are managed.

The new rules related to the exit of  MOJA  they provide more structure for registrations, payments and packages.

At the time of registration on Ten'Up, the club will be able to choose to make the  payment required or not To activate online payment, he will need a HelloAsso account.

When a pair withdraws before the registration deadline:

If she has not yet paid, she will simply appear in the list of unregistered pairs;

If she has paid, the club will be able to reimburse her via ADOC, according to the rule that it will have previously announced.

After registration closes, the club will also retain the option of refunding or not a pair of packages.

Le  The draft will be automatic. , according to the specific management rules of the category. A pair that is selected will then have to pay their registration fee directly on site to the club.

The tournament referees will then have to close the tournament in MOJA and publish the results in the  24 hours after the end of the competition .

 Forfeits during ranking matches will be more strictly regulated.

The FFT reminds everyone that each pair must be offered at least  three matches except for specific formats involving five matches.

For tournaments ranging from  P25 to P500 A pair that has not yet played three matches and refuses without justification to participate in a ranking match will be placed in  last place in the tournament .

If she has already played at least three matches, she will be ranked last in the round in which she participated.

An exception exists for beaten pairs:

in the quarter-finals or semi-finals of a  P1000  ;

in the final table of a  P2000 or a P3000 .

They will be offered the placement matches, but they will not be penalized if they do not wish to play them.

In the event of a justified withdrawal, the pair may continue the ranking matches and obtain points corresponding to their actual final ranking. The tournament referee will be solely responsible for assessing the justification. For an injury, a medical certificate must be submitted within one week of the tournament.

Another clearly displayed reminder: it is  participation in two tournaments on the same day is prohibited. A player forced to withdraw from one of the two events may be subject to a report and disciplinary sanctions.

 The price of licenses is changing

For the 2027 sports year, the adult license will cost:

 33 Euros  when it is taken in an FFT club;

 51 Euros  for a license purchased directly on the web.

Among young people:

 13 Euros  for children under 6 years old in an FFT club;

 23 Euros  for 7-18 year olds in an FFT club;

 36 Euros  for a youth license obtained online.

The license will be valid from  September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027 .

 A reform that affects all levels

With the new  cuts , the creation of  P2000 and P3000 With the overhaul of assimilations and the framework for registrations, the FFT seeks to further structure French competition.

Recreational players should find more homogeneous draws in the lower categories, while competitors will need to pay closer attention to registration deadlines, payments, forfeits and ranking matches.

The organizers and referees will also have to adapt quickly to  MOJA which will gradually become the central tool for managing French tournaments.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
