This is a small revolution in the world of international padel : from the week of 14 in April 20 2025, players will not be able to no longer register for multiple FIP tournaments in the same weekA measure expected by many players in the circuit, in particular tournament organizers, who often saw their work weakened by last-minute cancellations.

The International Federation of Padel (FIP) formalized this change in a communication sent to players. As of this date, each player will only be able to validate one registration per week on the circuit Cupra FIP Tour. Any multiple registration will be automatically canceled as soon as the lists are officially closed, set on Wednesday at 17:00 PM (CET), two weeks before the tournament week.

A simple rule for a recurring problem

Until now, players had been accustomed to registering at several tournaments of the same level, depending on their ranking and travel options. This system offered a certain flexibility, but also generated a flood of withdrawals and constant adjustments, sometimes at the last minute.

Result: tables that were constantly moving, pairs urgently recomposed, and above all organizers forced to improvise, to the detriment of the stability and credibility of events.

This practice – ironically nicknamed “musical chairs” – had reached its limits. The FIP therefore decided to put an end to it, by also removing the confirmation period between Wednesday and Friday, which until then left a little leeway for players to confirm their definitive participation.

Organizers relieved

This decision is very well received by the organizers, often put to the test in the management of tables. For them, it is a step forward which should strengthen the reliability of registrations and improve the readability of programming.

By prohibiting double registrations, the FIP wishes bring more rigor in the operation of the circuit, without penalizing the players: they will now simply have to make a clear choice in advance.

A step forward for a more structured, more stable and, ultimately, more professional circuit.
