The Qatar Major 2025  offers us a perfect scenario for the finals: the two best pairs in the world,  in both men and women , will cross swords to try to impose their law on this first major meeting of the season. Two duels that smell of revenge, rivalry and legend.

Galán and Chingotto finally want to overthrow King Tapia and his right-hand man Coello

It will be  the 15th confrontation  across  Arturo Coello & Agustín Tapia  et  Alejandro Galán & Federico Chingotto . But the numbers don't lie:  Number 1s lead 9-5 in head-to-head matches , and especially,  They are on a run of seven consecutive victories , the last of which is  Genoa June 30, 2024 .

Since that day,  Galán and Chingotto no longer beat their rivals , despite several finals disputed. The two players, already winners in Miami and Santiago this season, have shown impressive consistency, but they know: they are missing  a benchmark victory against Tapia and Coello  in 2025.

Galán said this after their semi-final against Paquito and Bergamini:

“They're one of the few teams we haven't really gotten the better of yet. We feel like they're getting back to their best, and that's exactly the kind of challenge we love.”

Coello, for his part, is enjoying his return to the highest level after a period of inactivity:

“This is our first final in a few weeks. We suffered, we had doubts, but today we are here. Doha is a special place, and it's a chance to play in a Major final there.”

The duel is therefore launched. Galán & Chingotto  can win their third consecutive title , a first for them. Coello & Tapia, for their part, want to prove that they are still the bosses.

Ariana and Paula vs Gemma and Delfi: the women's padel rivalry reaches a peak

In women,  Ariana Sánchez & Paula Josemaría  will find once again  Gemma Triay & Delfi Brea . A poster that becomes  the new standard  of high-level women's padel. But this final will not be like the others.

On the one hand,  the world number 1 , who have certainly been crowned this season, but without real domination. On the other hand,  a constantly rising Triay / Brea pair , who seem to have found the right formula. Both teams come out of the close semi-finals, won in three sets, with character and strong nerves.

This duel will also be an opportunity to follow  the personal clash between Ariana Sánchez and Gemma Triay , two of the best players in history. In  60 individual confrontations , they are perfectly equal:  30 wins each A symbolic statistic of the intensity of their rivalry.

“Matches against Gemma are always special,” Ari said. “She’s helped me improve, pushing me to find solutions in every rally.”

Gemma, too, does not hide her admiration:

“Ari is a tremendous player. We push each other to excel. These are the kinds of confrontations that advance a career.”

A victory for Triay and Brea in this Major would send a strong signal to the rest of the circuit. A victory that could  reshuffling the cards of female leadership , even if the throne still remains in the hands of Ari and Paula.
