At 33 years, Jules Mary , a former professional tennis player, is embarking on a new adventure: padel . Fans who follow him on social media already know that the Frenchman is passionate about this rapidly expanding discipline.
In a recent video posted on YouTube , he made official his decision to stop the ATP circuit and start a new challenge in padel:
“Hey Breakers, I have an important announcement to make. It’s the end of the ATP Tour for me. It was an incredible adventure, but it’s time to move on. And that new challenge is padel!”
The end of an adventure on the ATP circuit
After several years on the professional circuit, where he achieved his best ranking at the 203rd place worldwide in 2024 , Jules Marie decided to end his career in tennis .
“It was getting harder and harder physically and mentally. I had to go back to Futures tournaments, train hard, make sacrifices… and I didn’t want to fight as much anymore.”
His return to the circuit in 2022 was nevertheless marked by a best season in 2023 , with five titles won and qualifications for Grand Slams such as Australian Open . He also experienced some strong moments in Roland-Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open .
Despite some regrets – such as not having played a main board of Grand Chelem – he has excellent memories of his years spent on the courts.
A new challenge: padel
Already ranked 600th French Thanks to an assimilation linked to his tennis ranking, Jules Marie sets himself ambitious goals in this new discipline:
- Top 100 French within a year
- Top 50 French in two years
- Top 10 French within three to four years
To do this, he plans to play as many tournaments as possible in France , including P500 and P1000 , before possibly turning to the FIP circuit , which represents the equivalent of the international padel circuit.
“Padel is booming! There were 12 competitors in France 000 years ago, today there are 5! Now is the time to get started.”
A gradual transition
Although he leaves the professional tennis , Jules Marie is not giving up this sport completely. He plans to give private lessons , organize Internship , and maybe even participate in some CNGT tournaments.
His YouTube channel, followed by more than 130 000 subscribers , will now be dedicated to 80% in padel and 20% in tennis . It also provides for vlogs to share his daily life and his experiences on tournaments in France and Spain .
“I want this new adventure to be as exciting as the tennis one. You will follow me in the tournaments, discover the world of padel, and see my progress over the months.”
With a highly professional approach, a loyal community and unwavering determination, Jules Marie could well make a place for himself among the best French padel players .
