Fiona Ligi, what program for the future?

We met Fiona Ligi in Tenerife, where she played her first APT tournament Padel Round. She takes stock with us of the rest of her season and her ambitions for the future.

PM: “How did you feel on the APT Padel Tower, you who are more used to playing on the P1000 and P2000 in France?”

Fiona Ligi: “I really enjoyed myself, I didn't know at all. However, the difference is that they are totally different games. Players we don't know so we have to adapt and that's great. The game is a little slower than in France so it's interesting for me given my style of play. World Padel Tour or the APT both are nice but I'm starting to have a preference for the APT.”

PM: “On the French circuit you lost the last final you played with Laura Clergue. Do you think it could play in the head of the coach for the world championships in Qatar?”

FL: "I have no idea what he's going to think about it. I know that we are going to give our all in every match, from qualifying to the final table of each tournament. In this match we didn't really get into it, it happens but it's one of the first where it didn't work out in our favour. We are not going to stop there and we are going to give everything perhaps to the P1000 of Nîmes if not to the P2000 of the Pyramids and up to the French championships and after. We will see what the coach decides next.

PM: “I know we talked about it a bit off, does playing tournaments like that and seeing that you can hook Top 60 WPT players, does that not make you want to train more? and see how far Fiona Ligi can go?”

FL: “It's true that it's been a long time since I did an international tournament and it gave me a boost like never before. The motivation is there to do more, either with Mafalda or others depending on the tournament.”

PM: “Two small questions concerning your partner in France Laura Clergue: first of all, do you both manage to train? And then could that motivate her to come with you on other tours if she can find the time?”

FL: “Training together no. We try to arrive earlier before the tournaments to play a little together. We already have a lot of automatisms, we must try to focus on tactics together. Then Laura, she comments a lot on the WPT and I don't know if her schedule would allow it. But of course if there is possibility it could be good to come and play a tournament together to continue to improve as a pair.
