It's over for the Fip Promotion, FIP Rise and IFJ Star in 2025. These categories disappear to make way for two new ones on the FIP Tour : FIP Bronze and FIP Silver.

“New” categories… not quite, since these two levels actually result from a fusion of the three former first categories of the FIP Tour.

An evolution of categories

Le FIP Bronze combines old categories Fip Promotion et FIP RiseLess restrictive than the FIP Rise for the organizers, the FIP Bronze should give a boost to the old FIP Promotion, which, according to some, was sometimes too devalued by certain clubs.

For clubs that already organized a FIP Rise, they will now have the opportunity to move on to FIP Silver. This new category starts with a minimum allocation of €15, but the organizers will have the possibility to double, if they wish, to attract more players.

What consequences?

Concretely, we should find, as with the current FIP Rise, several FIP Silver organized the same week, but with varying prizes.

The risk? That the best players will concentrate where the prize money is the highest, while others, supposedly lower ranked, head to the less well-endowed tournaments. The problem lies in the equality of points : all these competitions will offer the same number of points to win, which could accentuate the inequality between players.

To be continued…

We will see how this reform evolves in the medium term. FIP Tour 2025 looks promising, but managing endowments and player distributions will be a key issue for its success.
