Julien Seurin et Steffi Merah stopped at the gates of the final of the FIP Bronze of Cordenons This Sunday morning. Despite their good performances, the two Frenchmen failed to overcome the final obstacle to the final.

Seurin and Varo stopped dead in their tracks in the semi-final

After their great quarter-final victory against the 3rd seed, Julien Seurin and his Spanish partner Antonio Varo Ramos hoped to continue their momentum. Opposed to the pair Samuel Rivas Garcia / Pablo Reina Ambel, the Franco-Spanish were however quickly overtaken in this semi-final. They lost 6 / 2 6 / 2 without having really managed to reverse the trend in either set. A frustrating defeat in a match which represented a real opportunity to reach a first joint final.

Merah and Phillips, a match to learn from

In the ladies, Steffi Merah and the British Lisa Rachel Phillips had made a good start to the tournament. But faced with Jessica Castello Lopez (world No. 13) et Lorena Rufo Ortiz (No. 23), the step was clearly too high. The Franco-British duo logically bows out 6 / 1 6 / 1 against an experienced pair, solid in all areas of the game.

A resounding defeat, but also a real source of learning for Merah and Phillips, who are gaining experience at this level of competition against world-class players.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
