Julien Seurin and Johan Bergeron  leave the  FIP Bronze Lyttos (Crete)  with honors, after a  very high-level semi-final  against the tournament favorites. Opposed to the number 1 seed,  Marco Cassetta (#77)  et  Jose Luis Gonzalez (No. 75) , the French delivered a  huge fight , but end up bowing down  6/2 6/7(11) 7/6(4) .

A solid run to the final four

Before this cruel defeat, Seurin and Bergeron had  perfectly mastered their week .  Three wins without losing a single set  to offer themselves a deserved semi-final:

  •  1st round  : victory 6/3 6/1 against  De Krom / Wink
  •  Round of 8  : success 6/3 6/3 against  Asimakopoulos / Balafas  (Greek wild card)
  •  Quart de finale  : convincing victory 6/4 6/3 against  Biliński / Naduk

A high-intensity semi-final

Faced with  world top 100 pair , the Tricolores first suffered in the  first set , logically lost 6/2. But then they  raised their level , hanging on in an intense second round, concluded at  tie-break 13-11  in their favor.

Le  third set , equally disputed, also led to a  decisive game This time, it is  Italian and Spanish  who tightened the game to win  7-4  in the tie-break.

Regrets but also many promises

Despite the disappointment, the French can emerge  proud of their performance , having  more than worried the favorites  of the tournament. This performance shows them that they have the weapons to  compete with top 100 players .

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
