Of the four semi-finals of the FIP Bronze Mondeville, there is only one French representative still in the race: Max Forcin, the last French hope in a competition largely dominated by Spanish pairs. In the women's competition, the final four is entirely Iberian, while in the men's competition, Spanish superiority continues to wreak havoc. A look back at an intense and informative day, marked by contrasting performances from the French players.

Ladies without surprise

In the ladies, no surprises to reportIn Caen, the logic was respected: the first four seeds found themselves in the semi-finals.

The most contested match was between Louis Bahurel and Charlotte Soubrié to the Spanish pair Claudia Escacena / Aitana Garcia, seeded number 3. This duel, broadcast live on Padel MagTV from track 3, almost offered a surprise. The French snatched the first set in the tie-break 7/6 (1), but were unable to maintain their level against the Spanish who quickly found their rhythm. Taking advantage of the French errors, Claudia and Aitana finally won in three sets: 6/7 6/4 6/2.
For the other seeds, a walk in the park on the slopes. In the semi-finals, we will therefore be treated to 100% Spanish matches. How original! On the French side, there is obviously reason to have some regrets. However, it must be recognized that the level of the Spanish players was generally a notch above.

Men's: Max Forcin, France's last hope

The men's table has seen a murderous friday for French players. Of the 18 players who started, only one survivor remains: Max Forcin.

Upper part: the domination of the seeded players

Unsurprisingly, the number 1 seed, Aliaga / Cordoba, qualified for the semi-finals. Opposite, the French Inzerillo / Maigret, after a grueling quarter-final against the young Spanish prodigies Belizon and Ramirez (16 years old!), were unable to compete. The series of efforts and the quality of play of the Spaniards got the better of them: 6 / 2 6 / 3.
On their side, Forcin / Mercadal continue their journey without a hitch. Solid and consistent since the start of the competition, this Franco-Spanish pair has not been troubled. But in the semi-finals, they will have a lot to do against the number 1 seed.

Lower part: surprises and eliminations

In the lower part, the seed 2, Moreau / Duprat, was eliminated as soon as it entered the competition. The imbalance of this pair did not resist the formidable Spaniards. The same observation for Joris / Gaillard (TS9), swept away by the Spanish pair Garcia / Nunez, who secures a place in the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Garcia and Nunez will face the Portuguese-Dutch pair Jesus / Richters, who clearly dominated the seed 4, Ortinez Barcelo (6 / 1 6 / 4). A surprise? Maybe. But with their solidity, Jesus and Richters confirm their rise in power after beating the French Vanbauce and Waagners in the eighth round on a double tie-break: 7 / 6 7 / 6.

Meet at the Halle Pierre Bérégovoy

The semi-finals will start tomorrow at 14:30 p.m. in a Pierre Bérégovoy Hall beautifully transformed into a center for the occasion. This FIP Bronze Mondeville, first edition already promises to be a spectacle until the end!
