Le first FIP tournament in Europe in 2025 will be held in France, in Mondeville, near Caen. This is the FIP Bronze Torchio PadelShot, expected from 7th to 12th, . However, with a week to go before the registration deadline, players are not rushing to participate. Jimmy Devaux, one of the founders of the tournament, remains confident and believes that players will register at the last minute (as is often the case). He also hopes that French-speaking players will answer the call, recalling that organizing such an international event requires a lot of work.
Players registered so far
At the gentlemen, we nevertheless find some very good players, including French. Starting with Max Forcin (430), local player, who offers the Spaniard Adri Mercadal (140). For the moment, they constitute the seeded 1.
En seeded 2, we find the pair Adrien Maigret / Jérôme Inzerillo, a well-known association on the French circuit. The two former members of the French team would like to consider a return to the forefront in 2025 and why not in the French team…
En seeded 3, the new association Thomas Vanbauce / Simon Wagner is also one to watch closely at the start of the year.
The tournament also attracts a large number of foreign players, including Spanish, English and even Egyptians.
At the Women, on the other hand, the table struggles to form, a recurring problem in competition. We still note the presence of Melissa Martin, associated with Steffi Merah, which form the seeded 1.
En seeded 2, we find Marianne Vandaele, accompanied by the Swiss woman Gaëlle Rey.
A call to French players
Jimmy Devaux speaks about the current situation:
“A few days before the closing of registrations for the FIP Bronze Mondeville Torchio, we note that few French players are registered. It's a bit disappointing. We know that people often register late, and we hope that they will do so in the final stretch. This tournament also aims to highlight the best french players. For my part, I tried to contact them privately, but, for the moment, the returns are limited, with the exception of Maxime Forcin et Adrien Maigret, already registered.
We expect more participation from the French. It’s an event for them, and this kind of tournament doesn’t happen every day in France. In a festive and event-like atmosphere, we hope they’ll play the game and sign up.”
On the players' side, the same observation
Jimmy Devaux also highlights the lack of participation among women:
“This is also true for female players. Today, some pairs only are registered, but the best French women have not shown up. This is not a rant, but a call for mobilization. We would like the best French players, both men and women, to participate in this event at the start of the year.
This would make the tournament more credible and attract more people. more headliners in the years to come.”
