Le  FIP Gold of Belgrade  continues to be a topic of discussion. After the questions raised by the presence of several  hybrid pairs By combining players of very different levels and contributing to creating a particularly unbalanced men's draw, a new factor has been added:  Six pairs withdrew from the main draws, including four seeded players. .

And here again, it is primarily among men that the phenomenon is striking.

Three of the eight male seeded players have withdrawn.

Of the eight top seeds initially planned,  three have finally disappeared from the table  :

  •  Aimar Goñi / Edu Alonso (TS3) 
  •  José Jimenez / Álex Arroyo (TS5) 
  •  Luis Hernández / Javi Martínez (TS8) 

This represents  three of the top eight male seeds , including two pairs – Goñi / Alonso and Jimenez / Arroyo – who were among the main outsiders behind the two big associations of the tournament,  Miguel Yanguas / Jorge Nieto (TS1)  et  Franco Stupaczuk / Jon Sanz (TS2) .

The loss of  Goñi / Alonso The absence of the 3rd seed is certainly the most significant. But combined with the absences of the 5th and 8th seeds, it primarily contributes to profoundly altering certain areas of the draw.

After the hybrid pairs, packages that don't improve things.

These withdrawals are taking place in an already particular context in Belgrade.

The male portrait had sparked a minor controversy regarding the presence of several  so-called hybrid pairs , consisting of a player well established on the circuit paired with a partner much lower ranked.

The most spectacular case was that of Álvaro Cepero , associated with the Iranian  Hami Gulistan The difference in ranking between the two players was considerable: Cepero was ranked 52nd in the world at the time of the entry list, compared to 1116th for his partner.

These associations could already create significant discrepancies between certain pairs in the main table.

 Last-minute cancellations obviously didn't help matters.  By eliminating three male top seeds, they further altered the distribution of power and led to the emergence of several lucky losers.

This is not about questioning the legitimacy of these repechages, which are provided for by the regulations, but about noting that  The final standings differed considerably from those suggested by the initial list of participants. .

Three pairs were thus selected in the men's competition:  Fran Ramirez / Michal Skonieczny, Nathan Courrin / Thomas Seux and Bohdan Levchuk / Zé Alexandre Meireles .

A situation from which the French have therefore benefited.  Courrin / Seux , initially eliminated in qualifying before getting a second chance in the main draw.

They eventually inherited  Javier Ruiz / Santiago Pineda, pair 9 , in the first round.

Three more withdrawals in the women's draw

The phenomenon was not limited to the male population.

In the ladies,  Clarissa Aima / Giorgia Rosi, Leire Uriarte / Lea Jurković and Sandra Bellver / Caterina Baldi  have also withdrawn.

The withdrawal of  Bellver / Baldi  is the most significant since they were supposed to be  seeded 7 .

Three new pairs were therefore selected in the women's competition:  Ana Stojacic / Andjela Novcic, Bojana Milutinovic / Ena Indjin and Irina Bobrysheva / Anna Davydova .

Put together, the figures become quite telling:  Six pairs withdrew from the main draws, four seeded players were absent, and six lucky losers were given a second chance. .

In men, the situation is even more striking since  Three of the eight initial seeds did not participate in the tournament. .

Le  FIP Gold Belgrade  obviously retains top players, starting with Yanguas/Nieto and Stupaczuk/Sanz. But between the hybrid pairings, three male seeded players withdrawing, and the resulting drafts,  The actual draw no longer quite resembles the one initially announced. .
