Le  FIP Gold of Belgrade  They enter their round of 16 match this Thursday. After a particularly challenging first round for the French delegation, the situation has become much clearer:  Alix Collombon is now the only Frenchwoman still in the race In the men's competition, despite several promising opportunities, no French player managed to reach the round of 16.

Collombon and Sharifova were swift

Seeded 5,  Alix Collombon and Ksenia Sharifova  They left no room for doubt in their opening match. They dominated  Felicitas Darboure / Alice Radu 6/1 6/0  and logically continue on their way.
This Thursday, the level of competition is expected to rise a notch against  Lorena Vano and Carmen Castillon . A match that remains well within reach for the Franco-Russian pair, with a quarter-final in sight.

The match is scheduled  starting at 10am on court 2 .

Touly and Barla are eliminated in the first round

For  Carla Toully The draw was tricky against the 6th seed.  Marta Borrero / Teresa Navarro The Frenchwoman and Xenia Clasca nevertheless pushed their opponents hard in a very close match before ultimately losing.  7/5 7/5 6/4 .
 Kimy Barla , partnered with Nura Padilla, also exited the tournament in the first round after a defeat  7 / 5 6 / 4  facing the British players Lisa Phillips and Chloe De La Mare.

The French disappear from the male table

The French delegation was much larger in the men's competition, with several pairs coming through the qualifiers and even  Nathan Courrin / Thomas Seux were brought back as lucky losers .

But no Frenchman made it past the first round.

 Manuel Vives / Olivier Guy de Chamisso  had notably inherited a huge challenge against the 4th seed  Alex Ruiz / Javi Garcia The Spanish asserted their status by winning.  6 / 4 6 / 4 .
Same outcome for  Arthur Hugounenq / Yanis Muesser , beaten after two tie-breaks by Francisco Jurado / Alejandro Garcia Calahorro,  7 / 6 7 / 6 A frustrating defeat considering the way the game unfolded.
 Maxime Joris / Jérémy Robert  They too came very close. Facing the Portuguese pair Gustavo Nunes / Pedro Perry, they lost after three sets and two tiebreaks:  7/6 4/6 7/6 .

Three top seeds already absent in the men's draw

The main surprise ultimately comes less from the results of the first round than from the table itself.  Three of the top eight seeds withdrew before their first match.  :  Aimar Goñi / Edu Alonso (TS3), José Jimenez / Alex Arroyo (TS5) and Luis Hernandez / Javi Martinez (TS8) .

These withdrawals opened up certain parts of the draw and allowed the entry of several lucky losers, including Courrin / Seux.

For the main favorites still in contention, there were no major accidents during the first round.  Yanguas / Nieto (TS1)  et  Stupaczuk / Sanz (TS2)  They notably got their tournament off to a perfect start.

It will therefore be particularly easy to follow:  Only one Frenchwoman will be on the Belgrade tracks .

 From 10am – Court 2: Alix Collombon / Ksenia Sharifova (TS5) vs Lorena Vano / Carmen Castillon. 

If they win, Collombon and Sharifova will reach the quarterfinals and continue to be the sole French representatives in this tournament.  FIP Gold Belgrade .
