We had an intense first day at FIP GOLD Lyon with some surprises in the qualifications.
We start with the “old ones”: Jérémy Scatena et Adrien Maigret first made things clear against the young French pair Julien Biron / Louis Jover, by winning in two sets: 6 / 1 6 / 3The No. 8 seed from qualifying then played a dangerous second round against the Spanish pair. Guimet / Trillas, victorious in three sets against the French pair Raichman / Rouanet during the first round. After a breathtaking suspense, Scatena / Maigret win in three sets: 3/6 6/4 7/6Tomorrow, starting at 15 p.m., they will face the number 2 seed, the Spanish pair, in the qualifying final. Perez / Ronco, who had to fight to get rid of Boronad / Fonteny in three sets: 4/6 6/3 6/3. This match will be broadcast live on Padel MagTV.
Sadly, Scatena / Maigret will be the only French to continue the adventure in these men's qualifications of the FIP GOLD Lyon.
In the first round, Maxi Moreau / Julien Seurin faced the Swedish pair Willy Slaryd / Adam Axelsson. A difficult match which ended in a French defeat in three sets: 4/6 6/3 7/6A difficult defeat to take for the number 6 seed in the qualifiers. Authier / Sanchez will bow out in two sets in the second round against the same Swedish pair.
Pierre Vincent and Arthur Hugounenq could not resist the Spanish pair Orange / Sintes, conceding a defeat in two sets: 6 / 1 6 / 3.
On the other hand, the French pair Dorian de Meyer / Simon Wagner fought a big fight against the Spaniards Varo / Head, winning in three sets: 6/3 1/6 6/3. However, the No. 5 seed, Castle / Algaro, proved too strong for them with a straight-set loss: 6 / 1 6 / 4.
Note the little surprise in the first round, with the French pair Sichez / Molinero, who managed to take a set at Boronad / Fonteny, before losing in the next two sets.
On the ladies side, Bahurel / Sireix gets out in three sets: 3/6 6/4 6/3, facing the Franco-Belgian pair Dardaine / MaligoThe qualifying final will be between Sireix / Bahurel at seed number 3, the Spanish pair Peco / Portillo, a match to follow live.
The female surprise of the day comes from Bergaud / Chamli, who beat Pozuelo / Martin in three sets: 2/6 6/1 6/3.
Finally, the French pair Phaysouphanh / Ligi inherited a complicated first round against the number 2 seed, From the Rose / Santos, with a defeat in two sets: 6 / 3 6 / 3.
So we will have five French people on the slopes during the qualifying finals, with a place in the main draw at stake.
