We know the first ladies finalists of the FIP GOLD Lyon 2024. Unsurprisingly, despite many difficulties, Alejandra Alonso/Andrea Ustero managed to reach the final after a far from easy journey. The Spanish pair first eliminated the Franco-Spanish pair Collombon/Martinez in the quarter-finals, before winning a much more competitive semi-final. The No. 4 seed, Nuria Rodriguez/Carolina Orsi, even believed in victory after winning the second set. But Alonso/Ustero were able to tighten up the game and limit errors to secure this place in the FIP GOLD final.
In the lower part of the table, Lorena Rufo/Beatriz Caldera had a more consistent run to the quarter-finals, where things got complicated against Iglesias/Guinart, followed by a great fight in the semi-final against Talavan/Bidahorria, which they won in three sets.
It is worth noting that the two finalist pairs have only lost one set so far, and that happened in the semi-finals. For those in the know, we find in the final two former partners ofAlix Collombon, Lorena Rufo et Ale Alonso, in this French tournament.
The final is scheduled to start at 14 p.m.
