The French women hit a wall this Wednesday at FIP Platinum Lyon, with a logical but frustrating defeat for Alix Collombon / Jessica Ginier Barbier face Osoro / Iglesias.

Collombon and Ginier powerless against the number 4 seed

On the center court, Alix Collombon and Jessica Ginier faced a mountain: Aranza Osoro (15th in the world) et Victoria Iglesias (22nd in the world), seeded 4. The locals could do nothing against the power and consistency of the Spanish-Argentine duo, losing 6 / 1 6 / 2 in just over an hour.

The Lyon pair, despite being supported by the public, suffered at the hands of opponents who entered their match from the first exchanges, as Ginier acknowledged:

“We came into the game late, and against players of this level, we paid dearly for it. I'm not used to playing at this level, and the difference was felt.”

For his part, Collombon regretted a particularly complicated draw:

“It's always a pleasure to play with Jessica again. We know each other well, it reminds us of the good old days. But today, let's be honest, we came up against a rock... a crappy draw. They took us very seriously and played very well. There's not much to say, they were stronger.”

Messina and Pellegrinelli stopped in two sets

On court 4, the lucky losers French Chiara Messina and Elsa Pellegrinelli have suffered the same fate. Opposed to Chamli / Navarro López-Barajas, they bow 6 / 2 6 / 1 without having really found the solution to reverse the trend.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
