After a break due to rain, the paddle resumes its rights to FIP Platinum Mexico, which has now reached the stage of quarter-finals. By 250 point to be won in the FIP ranking, this competition could play a decisive role in the Race to the Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona.
Men's table: seven seeds still in the running
In the men's table, seven of the eight seeded pairs will compete for a place in the semi-finals. The favourites Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini (seeded #1) will face Victor Ruiz and Javi Ruiz (n°6) after a quick victory (6-1, 6-1) against Valenzuela/Hernandez. For Bergamini, currently 17th in the Race, a victory is essential to hope to qualify for Barcelona.
Another duel to follow: the n°2, Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo, respectively 18th and 19th in the Race, will cross swords with Javi Garcia and Pablo Cardona (#15 in the Race). These three players, separated by only a few points, will play for their place in the Finals in a high-tension match. Ruiz and Arroyo qualified thanks to a controlled success (6-2, 6-2) against Renzo Gabriel and Ivo Agustin Nunez.
Veteran sanyo gutierrez, currently 16th in the Race, also remains in the running for qualification. Associated with José Diestro, the duo (n°3) beat Patiniotis/Sager 6-2, 7-6 in the round of XNUMX. Their opponent in the quarter-finals: Martinez/Collado, the only non-seeded pair still in the competition.
Women's table: domination of the seeds
In women, Ale Alonso and Lucia Sainz (seeded n°1) continue their flawless run thanks to a solid victory (6-2, 6-3) against Touly/Dominguez. They will meet again in the quarter-finals Velasco/Canovas (n ° 5).
No. 2, Virginia Riera and Julieta Bidahorria, were even more impressive, conceding only two games against Perez/Varo (6-0, 6-2). Their next match: a clash against Nogueira/Rodriguez (n ° 6).
Two rounds on the program today
The quarterfinals will be played this morning (Mexican local time), while the semifinals will take place this afternoon. It will be a decisive day to determine the contenders for the Premier Padel Barcelona Finals.
