For this second day of the FIP Platinum VeracruzIn the men's draw, we will find: the round of 16 with the return to the courts of the majority of the seeded pairs.

Alonso and Tello continue their momentum

One month after reaching the final in Lyon, Edu Alonso and Juan Tello continue to strengthen their cohesion on the FIP Tour. Their entry into the competition in Mexico went smoothly, with a 6/2 6/2 victory against Jerez and Vilariño.

This performance puts them in a good position before a tougher test: the pair will face Franco Dal Bianco (Arce's former partner – an A1 player) and Josete Rico for a place in the quarter-finals. For Alonso and Tello, every match counts in the context of the standings leading to the Barcelona Finalswhere a few points can still make the difference to break into the top 16.

Of the eight seeded pairs in the men's draw, seven are still in contention. The only exception concerns Álvaro Cepero and Agustín Torre, winners in the first round of Íñigo Jofre and Álex Arroyo with a score of 6/4 7/5.

The women's quarter-finals are already on the schedule.

Unlike the men's draw, the women's players advance directly to the quarterfinals today. The top eight seeds are all present:

  • Jensen / Alonso (1) vs Velasco / Barrera (8)
  • Fassio / Llaguno (7) vs Caldera / Goenaga (4)
  • Osoro / Iglesias (3) vs Castelló / Rufo (6)
  • Sainz / Eugenio (5) vs Guinart / Virseda (2)
