We knew it, the FIP Promotion Valencia turned out to be the toughest tournament of this category of the year, with the presence of many top 100. Consequently, the French were going to have their work cut out for them if they hoped to win the title.

Unfortunately for Philemon Raichman et Arthur Hugounenq, it did not happen against the 8th seed: Manuel Yuste Apolinar (324) and Jaume Romera Barcelo (248). However, the French were not far from qualifying for the second round, having won the first set 6/4 and being engaged in a tie-break in the second. However, the Spanish pair managed to stay alive in this encounter on several occasions and ended up winning: 4/6 7/6 6/3.

Among French women, on the other hand, the news is better, starting with Elodie Invernon and her partner Francesca Ligotti who easily won in their first match, 6 / 1 6 / 1, facing the pair Navarro Garcia / Valiente Escrich, from qualifying. They play again today against another Spanish duo: Diana Toledo Jovani (301) / Carla Fernandez Gonzalez (349).

It was more complicated, however, for Laura Buteau and her partner Morena Nicole Suarez who had to get their place in 8th in the third set. They lost the first set against the qualified pair Mayoral Estrada / De la Soledad Morgado Rodriguez. The Franco-Argentinian pair finally managed to raise their level of play to get by: 4/6 7/6 6/0. The duo plays again today against Noemi Ollero Ramirez (359) and María Cristina López (162).

The two French players will start their meeting at 10h and, in case of victory, will have to continue with their quarter-final, later in the day!

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
