For those who wanted a spectacle, they were served in this men's final of the FIP Rise Bandol between Marco Cassetta / Alvaro Montiel (TS1) and Pol Hernandez / Ramiro Valenzuela (TS2). A match lasting more than two hours which needed three sets to find champion!
The first round was very tight, as one would expect, with very quick games on the commitments of each team. Zero station wagon converted and a set which logically headed towards a tie-break, finally won by Pol Hernandez / Ramiro Valenzuela.
This loss of the first set completely re-boosted the Spanish-Italian pair who flew through this second set, by double-breaking and sticking to a sleeve everywhere. Score of this second round: 6/2.
A third round to decide between these two teams. Once again, Alvaro Montiel and Marco Cassetta managed to take the advantage, once again by breaking in the best possible way, by chaining 12 points in a row. Difficult for Pol Hernandez and Ramiro Valenzuela to come back in this match... and despite winning the first round, this promising young pair ended up losing: 6/7 6/2 6/4.
Marco Cassetta and Alvaro Montiel win their very first FIP Rise together. They join Jessica Ginier et Carla Toully who won earlier in the morning in the final of this FIP Rise Bandol.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
