Five French representatives were still in the running for the FIP Rise from Cairo, which takes place in Egypt (May 21-25, 2024). Unfortunately for them, their adventure ended in the round of 16.

Raichman swept, Vanbauce and Hugounenq knocked down

Aligned with Thijs Roper (277), Philemon Raichman had a very difficult game against Sinicropi/Di Giovanni, seeded number 1. The Italians inflicted a heavy defeat on the Franco-Dutch duo (6/0, 6/1) and advanced to the next round.

On the side of Thomas Vanbauce et Arthur Hugounenq, everything started well against Melero Bernal/Tur Checa. After winning the first round, the French then suffered Spanish attacks and ended up breaking down at the end of the suspense. They lost in three sets (6/3, 5/7, 4/6).

Invernon and Barsotti take the door

Big disappointment for Elodie Invernon et Wendy Barsotti. While they were among the favorites for the title, the two women (seeded number 2) are already ousted from the tournament. The French pair gave in to Castro Vilela/Portillo Perez (4/6, 6/2, 2/6) and will have to get back on track very quickly.

There are therefore no more French men and women competing in the Egyptian capital, but the competition continues here.
