The Franco-Spanish pair composed of Léa Godallier (58th) et Sandra Bellver Fructuoso (53rd) stops at the gates of the final of the FIP Silver Caltanissetta , after a defeat in two sets (6/3 7/5) against the number 3 seed, Jana Montes Cabruja (63rd) et Julia Polo Bautista (52nd) .
A great missed opportunity
While they seemed to have a a good card to play to secure their first final of the season , Godallier and Bellver failed to gain the upper hand against a very solid Spanish pair in key moments.
A good journey despite everything
Their tournament remains encouraging, however. Qualified for the quarterfinals after a forfeit of their opponents in the eighth, they then won a three-round fight (6/1 3/6 6/3) against the Italians Carolina Petrelli et Giulia Dal Pozzo .
Heading for Qatar
With this semi-final, Godallier and Bellver leave with 25 FIP points , a valuable gain for the ranking. They will be back on the circuit in two weeks for the Qatar Major , a meeting where they will directly integrate the main board , thanks to their ranking and the expanded format of major tournaments.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
