End of the road for the French pairs au FIP Silver Champ Fleuri, where the hierarchy was respected in the quarter-finals. The seeded teams imposed their law, confirming their status and qualifying without trembling for the last four.
Tirel / Poupart powerless against the number 1 seed
After a great 6/3 6/0 victory against Grondin / Gamblin in the last 16, Carole Tirel et Flora Poupart could do nothing against the formidable pair Marta Talavan / Julieta Bidahorria, seeded number 1. A 6/0 6/0 defeat against two world-class players, but valuable experience gained for the Reunion Islanders.
Guiraud / Houareau stopped by the seed 3
Elisa Guiraud et Anna-Blue Houareau had negotiated their entry into the tournament perfectly (6/0 6/2 against Mouis / Glandus), before losing 6/2 6/3 to Alba Perez Momha et Lorena Vano (TS3). A logical defeat, but the French women were able to hold their opponents and prove that they could compete in sequences.
De Guigné / Naegellen and Mansart / Marcarie logically exited
Jennifer De Guigné et Elodie Naegellen, victorious 6/0 6/1 in the previous round, could do nothing against María Portillo Pérez / Lucia Perez Parra (6/0 6/1). Same fate for Clara Mansart et Manon Marcarie, beaten 6/3 6/3 by Julia Polo Bautista / Noemi Aguilar CarrilloDespite everything, Mansart distinguished herself with a very good level of play, particularly in smash.
The semi-finals promise to be explosive
The semi-final posters are now known:
- Talavan / Bidahorria (TS1) vs Perez Momha / Vano (TS3)
- Polo Bautista / Aguilar Carrillo (TS2) vs Portillo Pérez / Perez Parra (TS4)
The seeded teams therefore confirm their domination in this FIP Silver, while the French women leave with experience, pleasure and the pride of having stood up to some of the best players on the circuit.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
